Tribune Media Services and DIRECTV Latin America Sign Entertainment Metadata Agreement
Tribune Media Services (TMS), the leading provider of entertainment metadata, and DIRECTV, the premier provider of digital television services worldwide, have announced a new agreement under which TMS’ best-in-class On® Entertainment metadata will be used in the entertainment guides offered by DIRECTV Latin America to its PanAmericana subscribers. By providing superior guides powered by TMS entertainment information, images, TV Showcards and discovery capabilities, DIRECTV Latin America will increase consumption of program offerings among existing subscribers and provide its customers with one of the best user experiences in the region.
PanAmericana represents DIRECTV Latin America’s largest footprint, reaching more than 4 million subscribers in Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Chile, the Caribbean, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Ecuador.
The TMS/DIRECTV Latin America agreement marks an expansion of the relationship between the two companies. TMS and DIRECTV U.S. have collaborated since 1993, along the way developing new entertainment discovery products, which have helped the service provider grow its American subscriber base to 20 million.
