Zap2it.com Closes Out 2009 with Annual "Year in Review"

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Zap2it.com, the leading TV and celebrity news web site from Tribune Media Services (TMS), today announced its "Year in Review: 2009 Recycled, Ranked and Ranked On" content - a multi-media wrap-up of the highest and lowest points of the tumultuous year in entertainment. Delivered in Zap2it's distinct editorial voice - a combination of sharp wit, incisive humor and unabashed passion - the review offers entertainment fanatics an engaging look back at the TV shows, movies and celebrities that were popular topics of discussion throughout 2009.

The Year in Review, available now at http://www.zap2it.com/yearinreview, features the following:

  • WTF? TV Moments of 2009: A chronicle of the 34 most unforgettable and outrageous moments on TV that had everyone talking
  • TV's Guilty Pleasures of 2009: A wrap-up of the 20 TV shows the Zap2it staff can't stop watching - whether they'll admit it or not
  • TV's Underrated Stars of 2009: A celebration of the 22 actors and actresses who are the unsung heroes of their TV series
  • Naughty & Nice of 2009: Our list of jeers and cheers, including a jeer to Bear Grylls for naming his kid Huckleberry and a cheer for FunnyorDie.com for producing Lindsay Lohan's only acting hit
  • Top Tools of 2009: A collection of the ten worst people to bask in the media spotlight this past year and the devices in the shed they most resemble
  • Resolutions for 2010: A thought-provoking guide offering free advice on how to prevent media missteps in the coming year

The "Year in Review" is the latest example of the creative original content being produced by Zap2it under the leadership of Editorial Director, Joseph Kapsch. Since joining Zap2it earlier this year, Kapsch has spear-headed an initiative to grow readership for the site's editorial offerings.

One of Kapsch's most significant successes to date was bringing popular celebrity blog The Dish Rag - and its loyal audience - from the Los Angeles Times to Zap2it. Based on this and other efforts, Zap2it editorial page views for December are up more than 70% year-over-year.

"While our 'Year in Review' wrap-up marks the end of 2009, we're only just getting started," said Kapsch. "The review is a great showcase for Zap2it's savvy, authoritative and witty editorial voice. More than that, it's an example of the high-quality content we'll be producing for the benefit of our readers, advertisers and affiliates in 2010 and beyond."
